Description
The use of jade in China days back to the Neolithic duration (c. 5000– 2000 BCE), with the Hongshan and Liangzhu societies producing some of the earliest known jade artefacts. The idea in jade’s capacity to protect the body led to the development of elaborate jade interment suits, such as those discovered in the tomb of Liu Sheng, a Han royal prince. The Ming (1368– 1644) and Qing (1644– 1912) dynasties represent the zenith of Chinese jade jewelry craftsmanship.
